Suspect Rex Heuermann Indicted in Two More Cases
Suspect Rex Heuermann indicted in two more cases. On June 6, 2024, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, announced that a secret grand jury has indicted the suspected Long Island Serial Killer in the cases of Jessica Taylor (2003( and Sandra Costilla (1993).
When this case is over, we may discover that Rex Heuermann was one of the most prolific serial killers in the United States. The details in the superseding indictment is not for the faint of heart. It describes, torture and other terrible things. Heuermann even kept a Word document outline his past failures and the lessons he learned. It appears that he wanted to perfect his “art.” For those that have said in the past that a serial killer doesn’t change their modus operandi, now have to rethink what they think they know.
Jessica Taylor
Jessica Taylor was last seen in the New York / New Jersey Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan between July 21-23, 2003. On July 26, 2003, her torso was found in Manorville, Suffolk County, Long Island. Her body was discovered on a path just off of Halsey Manor Road near the Long Island Expressway. A woman walking her dog discovered the body. According to the initial report, Taylor’s body was placed on top of plastic and wood sticks. That plastic turned about to be a surgical drape, the same type Heuermann wrote about in a document.
Sandra Costilla
Sandra Costilla’s remains were found on November 20, 1993, by hunters in the North Sea area of the Hamptons. According to the indictment (see below), she was lying on her back with her arms outstretched over her head. John Bittrolff was a suspect in her case due to the similarities in the Rita Tangredi and Colleen McNamee homicides.
